The tour of the home was very good and informative, the guide was a little forgetful but good with dates and details. The gardens, even at this time of the year were lovely. The afternoon tea was excellent and the staff couldn't have been more attentive. It was a present so don't know how much it cost, but an excellent useful idea.

This was bought as a gift and due to covid restrictions was postponed for quite some time. On calling to arrange the visit I was very pleasantly surprised at how lovely and helpful the staff were, special mention to Kasia who was lovely. The visit itself was so much better than I expected, Sue, our guide, was very knowledgeable and really brought the history of the tower to life. She was very informative but in an interesting and fun way - especially about the ghostly goings on! The afternoon tea was lovely, very pleasant surroundings with a delicious selection of sandwiches and cakes. We didn't have time to see everything so will definitely be back to see the gardens and the underground tunnels. I would highly recommend a visit to anyone who hasn't been to this beautiful and historic landmark. Many thanks to all the staff and volunteers who really do make this a great day out!

The tour of the house was conducted by Alan, who was excellent in his historical knowledge and his ability to involve us in the whole experience. We were, however, disappointed not to see various aspects of the house which had been closed due to the coronavirus. We will definitely do the tour again when those additional features are available. We enjoyed afternoon tea for two but felt that the charge of £19 per person was somewhat high (especially as we were supposed to have a glass of Prosecco but unfortunately that was not offered). Having said that, we had a very enjoyable afternoon and we look forward to visiting again in the future when the situation with the virus has ended.

Arriving at the venue we were pleased to find a Farmers Markets near the main Hall. We spent some time there (excellent market) and then on to the reception. Very friendly staff informed us of the time for our tour and where to meet our guide. Katherine our guide welcome us with a smile and what was to happen as we went around the the building and rooms. We were treated to a very full and well informed tour which lasted about 90 minutes. We went to the onsite cafe for our afternoon tea. Once again, very friendly and efficient staff who looked after my wife and I with smiles and care! The arrival of the food was met with our wide smiles. It looked stunning the way it was set out on the 3 piered stand. The food was the best afternoon tea we have ever had. It was fresh sandwiches, savouries, cakes , scones with jam and clotted cream lots of blue berries and strawberries and salad extras. Plus, a large pot of tea. Could not fault a thing!! Well done to all involve at the hall including, The Hoghton Family who worked along side their excellent staff! Thank You All! George & Helen Rimmer

The tour was brilliant, the building fascinating, the staff helpful, the tea amazing but we are unable to give 5 because the prosecco was missing.
